Welcome To Cooky Gingers
Introduction
On this link, I am going to show you a wide range of ginger beers. Many years ago, there was no plastic around and most food and drink containers were pot or glass. There was a wide variety of bottlers and potteries, who would pride themselves, into designing there own logos, so people would recognise what brand of ginger beer to buy. Most of this type of bottle came from the Victorian reign when Queen Victoria ruled our country England. The Victorians where pioneers and great architects, they were good inventors and great artists. Much of what we have today, and why we have it has come from this time in history.
Victorian times, brought about many quack cures and pharmacists, with so many medicines, lotions, perfumes and chemicals. There are a wide range of items, you can collect from these times and many of them look quite unique. There are loads of collectors all over the world, collecting many different types of pots and bottles, being discovered all the time. Some people discover them by digging them up out of the ground. Some people discover them, in water such as rivers, lakes or diving on sunken ships. Some people simply look in antique shops or antique fairs to build up there collections.
Whatever way you do it, there is a sense of excitement in getting hold of something, that has a story. Maybe something to do with the great fire of London, or the great plague. Or a simple story of a Victorian family, wanting to earn a living, by supplying ginger beer bottles to a brewery. They look fantastic on a shelf and each piece carries some great story, from our English heritage.
