Welcome To Cooky Grow
Introduction
On this link, I want to take you to my allotment, where I grow a lot of fruit and vegetables.I do not confess to being a professional horticulturist.I also grow lots of weeds and I am very much a novice. My aim is to show you what can be done on a piece of ground. Also what can be better for your health, than growing and harvesting, your own fruit and vegetables. In these times where food prices are hiked, out of control, growing fruit and vegetables, has to be a serious option. This could save you a serious amount of money, not to mention, give you lots of health benefits, in mind and body. Please feel free to visit many of the other links on this website.

A mans best friend
Check out my cooky puppy.she might not look like a puppy but she is only 9 months old.Her name is Jazz and she has a really good personality. She loves to come on the allotment sniffing all the different things. Also she loves to watch bees.Do you think she looks like my tshirt.Could they be twins. She is a very happy dog and is black and tan in colour. You will see lots of Jazz in this website,so i hope you will grow to like her.A video will be attached soon so you will see her.Dont you want a cooky puppy now.
The Polytunnel
I bought this polytunnel about two to three years ago.It is getting a little worn now as the weather has not been kind to it.I have managed to get quite a few seeds grown in there to put out in the ground. So it does serve its purpose.Earlier in the year we had some really bad winds and it took a right bashing so i have reinforced the inside with wood and roped it down like a tent.I have planted two grape vines in there also and we will see how they get on.
Flat leaf parsley
This is a flat leaf parsley, which is a herb.It is very common as a garnish. It is rich in folic acid, fibre, vitamin c,chlorophyl, iron etc.It is great in stews, pasta dishes, salads, many meals look great with lots of chopped parsley in for colour or simply on top.But do not forget to eat it.It is very healthy.
Rosemary
Rosemary is a great herb with a very rich flavour. Its oils are very good for your skin.Take the kernals off the stem and finely chop when adding to soups. Many people like to use rosemary with roasting meats and vegetables. This is a great medicinal herb.
Spearmint
Mint is great in salads, sweets,on meats for marinating, sauces, etc.A fantastic flavour which is nice and sweet and full of goodness.
Fresh Sage
Sage tends to be used in savoury dishes. It goes great in any casserole and fantastic in sauces. It has lots of medicinal values. One to always have in the kitchen.
Redcurrants
Around 6 buckets of redcurrants like this were collected. The bushes are great and keep producing every year. These are great for jellies, tarts, wine, fruit salads etc.Do not put too many in as they are a little tarty and acidic.
Strawberries
Around 12 buckets of strawberries were collected, which is great as they are very expensive.I generally give much of the crop away as i do not have too much freezer space. Also it shares the love around as everyone likes strawberries.
Gooseberries
I collected about 5 containers of these gooseberries, which is about 10lb in weight. Not bad considering there are only 3 bushes and they were only planted 4 years ago.Nice in gooseberry pie or crumble.
Broad Beans
I bought 10 packs of broad bean seeds and look how much crop i got from these seeds that i got for 10p a packet.Yes that is right all this crop for one pound. In weight around 25lb in broad beans. They all come at once
Rasberries
This year i have only had about 3 bowls of rasberries.Last year i dug out most of the bushes as they were taking over a bit.So i dug out most of the roots and canes, just leaving a few.
Runner Beans And Pears
I ended up harvesting around 9 full carrier bags of runner beans which grow at different times, when you pick more grow. and around 3 carrier bags of conference pears. The trees were planted 2 years ago and cost 5 pounds each
Gooseberries And Strawberries
More gooseberries and strawberries with a bit of mint thrown in for good measure
