This section of the website will show you how to make good hot sweets
with lower fat than usual.
Some of the hot sweets have been made with the fruit from the Cooky grow section.
Remember it is never good to have cake and pastries every day as they are full of fats sugars and starches. Many people get heartburn from having too much pastry.
These types of sweets are always good as a treat. If you are on a diet then you will need to seek medical or nutritional advice to work out how much you are allowed and how often.
I know many people want to learn how to make cakes which is great,but the main part is training yourself into having them occasionally and not daily.
Exercise will also burn off many of the fats and calories. So some of you may be able to eat more cakes than others.
Be careful how much cream you consume also as many people even put cream on cream.
Such as cream gateaux and cream cakes with cream on,so really this is overkill literally.
If you know what I mean. All of the work is professional and any business may well use this website as a reference tool.
Hot sweets here are healthy,Easy and Cheap to make on a low budget.

Rice Pudding 4 portions +
Ingredients Half a mug of short grain rice,a good thick pinch of nutmeg,One and half pints of semi skimmed milk,half cup of evaporated milk,three heaped dessert spoons of sugar.
Method : Put the milk and short grain rice in a pan and simmer for half an hour stirring every five minutes. Add the sugar,nutmeg and evaporated milk.Cook a further 20 minutes on a low light simmering. Your rice pudding is now ready. It is nice with a little honey.

Chocolate Cake And Chocolate Sauce
Ingredients : 1 pound of plain flour,1 pound of caster sugar,1 pound of low fat margarine or butter,2 dessert spoons of cocoa powder,3 level teaspoons of baking powder,6 eggs.
Sauce : 1pint of semi skimmed milk,1 heaped dessert spoon of cocoa powder,A third of a cup of evaporated milk,2 heaped dessert spoons of sugar,2 dessert spoons of cornflour.
Method : Put the flour,caster sugar,eggs,baking powder and margarine into a large plastic bowl and mix with your fingers quickly until the mix goes very light in colour. When the mix is light and lots of air has been added,add the cocoa powder,and mix in. Lightly grease a cake tin and cook at 170 degrees centigrade or gas mark 5 for around 30 - 40 minutes. When checking after this time, open the oven door very slowly and touch the middle of the cake.If it is firm it is cooked,if not it needs another 10 - 15 minutes.This depends how deep your tin is,a thinner one will cook quicker.

Ingredients 2 ciabbata bread cobs,a handful of sultanas,4 dessert spoons of sugar,1 and a half pints of semi skimmed milk,6 eggs,1 and a half teaspoons of five spice.
Method : Slice the ciabbata bread into 1 cm + slices and put into an oven dish.Add sultanas and a sprinkle of sugar.Then whisk the eggs and milk together.Put another layer of ciabbata bread into the dish,sprinkle of sugar and 5 spice.Then pour the liquidinto the dish .Press the ciabbata bread down so it absorbs it.Then put another good sprinkle of sugar over the top.Cook in the oven at 160 degrees centigrade or gas mark 4 - 5 for 30 - 40 minutes.The egg mix will be set like quiche when it is ready. This is also nice with coconut in it.

Method : Get a plastic bowl and rub in together the butter and flour until crumbly.Add a little cold water,a bit of a time and mix into a dough.Roll out and line a tart tin or quiche tin.If non stick it does not need greasing,if not it will. Whisk the eggs and milk together,add the sugar and the grated nutmeg. Pour onto the pastry lined tin and bake at about 170 degrees centigrade or gas mark 5 for about 30 - 40 minutes. Nice hot,warm or cold.

Method : Quarter the apples and take out the core,rough chop,wash and put into a pan.Add a quarter cup of water and bring to the boil.Then cool it down. Rub the flour and butter together into breadcrumbs and then add some cold water a bit at a time mixing to get a dough. Cut into half and line a pie dish or oven plate.Add the apple when the tin is lined with the pastry,sprinkle most of the sugar over the apple,make sure if there is excess water it is poured off.Wet the edge of the pastry and then roll out the top and put on the pie and trim.Crimp around the edges.Get a little milk and brush the top of the pastry with it.Then sprinkle the rest of the sugar over the top. Bake in the oven for about 30 - 40 minutes at about 180 degrees centigrade or gas mark 6

Ingredients 1lb of oats,half a jar of honey or half a mug,half a mug of sugar,half a mug of low fat butter or margarine.
Method : Melt the butter or margarine and mix in the honey oats and sugar.Mix it well,then press it into a non stick baking tin and cook in the oven for about half an hour at 180 degrees centigrade. Cut when warm and take out of tin when cold. Optional extras include, mixed fruit,nuts,cherries etc

Flapjacks Cut Up
Ingredients Double above amount if you want this amount,cut up when warm and separate when cool,then wrap in plastic bags or clingfilm.

Method : Top and tail the gooseberries and then wash,put them into a pan and add two dessert spoons of water and most of the sugar.Rub the plain flour and the butter together in a bowl and add a little cold water.Mix it into a dough and then cut it in half,roll out and line a pie dish or oven plate. When the cooked gooseberries have cooled down put on lined pastry and moisten the edge of the pastry.add the top and crimp the edge of all the pastry together.Brush the milk on the top of the pastry and sprinkle the remaining sugar on top of the pie.Bake in the oven at 180 degrees centigrade or gas mark 5 until it is golden brown. great served with custard or ice - cream.

Ingredients 1 pound of plain flour,3 teaspoons of baking powder,1 pound of caster sugar,1 pound of low fat butter,three dessert spoons of cocoa powder,1 bar of dark chocolate,Whipping cream,strawberry jam.6 eggs.
Method : Cream together the flour,baking powder,eggs,caster sugar and cocoa powder until light and fluffy.Put into a greased tin and cook in the oven at 170 degrees centigrade or gas mark 5 for 30 - 40 minutes. Let the cake cool down completely when it is cooked.Whisk the cream until fluffy. Cut the cake in half and spread jam on one half and spread cream over the top of it.Grate half of the chocolate into a container and melt the rest of the chocolate in the microwave or a pan in boiling water.Spread the rest of the whipped cream around the side of the cake and the press on the grated chocolate until it is gone. Then spread the melted chocolate over the top of the cake and put it into the fridge to set. Your cake is ready for a birthday cake maybe or just a bit of a treat. Optional don't add the cocoa powder to the cake mix or the chocolate on top and instead cover the top with cream.Brown some sliced almonds under the grill and let them cool down.Then press them around the side of the cake and sprinkle on top.This gives a completely different cake.

Stewed Rhubarb And Custard
Ingredients 4 big sticks of rhubarb,4 dessert spoons of sugar,1 pint of semi skimmed milk,2 dessert spoons of sugar,3 dessert spoons of custard powder.
Method : Chop and wash the rhubarb stems.Then wash them a put in a pan with a little water.Stew for 10 minutes with the 4 dessert spoons of sugar. Then in another pan bring the milk to the boil,mix the custard powder in a little water so it dissolves and stir into the boiling milk.Then stir in the two dessert spoons of custard. Put the rhubarb into a bowl then pour over a little custard and enjoy this nice hot winter sweet.Great with a bit of ginger.

Method : Crumble the butter and flour together,then mix in most of the sugar. Put the fruit in the dish and cover with the crumble.Sprinkle the rest of the sugar on top of the crumble. Bake in the oven for 30 minutes plus at about 200 degrees centigrade or gas mark 6. Great with custard or ice - cream

Lemon Bakewell Cakes
Ingredients 1lb of plain flour,2 teaspoons of baking powder,lemon essence ocake mixr rind of 1 lemon,1lb of caster sugar,1lb low fat butter or margarine,6 eggs,lemon curd, shortcrust pastry as above,icing sugar.
Method : Cream the flour,butter,baking powder,sugar lemon essence or chopped lemon rind together. Roll out the pastry and cut out small circles.Put them into a cake tray.Put a little lemon curd in each one and then add some cake mix into each tray. Bake in the oven at about 160 degrees centigrade or gas mark 5 for about 30 minutes

Ingredients 2 bananas,2 teaspoons of baking powder,3 heaped dessert spoons of plain flour,1 dessert spoon of caster sugar,half a teaspoon of 5 spice,half a mug of cold water,Half a pint of vegetable oil
Method : Peel the banana and cut in half lengthways and then into six pieces.Whisk up the other ingredients into a smooth batter.Heat up the vegetable oil in a pan or a fryer.An electric fryer with a safety cut out is safer.Run the banana through the batter and fry in the hot oil lowering it slowly.Cook turning it over until it is golden brown and crispy.When cooked drain and put on kitchen paper to drain off any grease.Sprinkle with caster sugar and serve with honey or ice - cream. Remember this is something to have maybe once a month.Too much is a bad thing but for a balanced diet many things are good in moderation

Fruit Cake
Ingredients : Follow the same ingredients as the cake mix above for the tarts but add sultanas.
Method : You can mix it the same but put it in a deeper tin to get more depth and turn the oven down a little bit and cook the cake for longer.Nice with 5 spice in it or cinnamon.
